Through his experience and progression within the department, he developed into a supervising art director, earning an early senior credit on GoldenEye (1995). Lamont subsequently established himself as a leading figure in film art direction, working on a range of major productions. He also received the Guild's Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award as part of the creative team behind the entire Harry Potter film series. Lamont subsequently moved into production design on Star Wars, initially serving as supervising art director on J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). He then co-designed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) alongside Doug Chiang, marking his first production designer credit on a feature film. Their work earned a nomination for Excellence in Production Design in the Fantasy Film category at the 2017 Art Directors Guild Awards. Lamont went on to serve as production designer on Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), continuing his work within the franchise. He reunited with Stuart Craig as co-production designer on Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022), continuing their creative partnership within the Wizarding World. His subsequent television work includes Alfonso Cuarón's psychological thriller series Disclaimer (2024), starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, for which he served as production designer.
