Detective Regan from across the border in the Republic of Ireland shows up at the crime scene as the victim is believed to have been murdered in the south and drifted north across the international border.

Regan and Boyd investigate an abandoned fuel tanker on the border. It could be a boobytrap bomb by dissident Republicans. Instead, they find the driver shot dead and two migrants hidden inside, one of whom is also dead. Regan and Boyd begin a manhunt for the people-traffickers responsible, uncovering a tangled web of political influence, family secrets and lies.
