The Guilty

As panic spreads, Lu Ming suspects Ma Derong is behind Shanshan’s disappearance. Flashbacks reveal Lu Ming, Xia Xue, and Lin Hua’s close friendship and their violent clash with Ma Derong’s son, Ma Ke, that changed everything.

Shanshan’s case escalates into a murder investigation, putting Lu Ming under police scrutiny. A dark truth surfaces: years earlier, Ma Ke assaulted Xia Xue and died during a confrontation. The trio made a desperate choice to bury the truth.

After a deadly factory explosion conveniently lists Ma Ke among the victims, the friends attempt to hide his true cause of death. But Ma Derong senses something is wrong and begins digging into the past.

A hidden videotape resurfaces, and blackmail forces Lu Ming into life-threatening work to buy silence. As debts mount and pressure builds, Lu Ming proposes to Xia Xue — unaware their fragile future is about to shatter.

When Ma Derong discovers the truth about his son’s death, he retaliates brutally. Xia Xue claims she is pregnant with Ma Ke’s child to save Lu Ming’s life — sacrificing her freedom in the process.

The factory collapses financially, families are torn apart, and Lu Ming turns to ruthless debt collection to survive. Meanwhile, Xia Xue raises her child in isolation as Ma Derong continues searching for her.

Lu Ming begins gathering evidence against Ma Derong’s criminal dealings. But when Xia Xue is dragged back into Ma Derong’s control, both realize they are still trapped in his shadow.

Lu Ming risks everything to expose Ma Derong, entrusting evidence to Hou Jun, a man who claims he can help. Ma Derong is arrested but Lu Ming’s hope of reuniting with Xia Xue slips away.

Back in 2010, Lu Ming confronts Ma Derong over Shanshan’s kidnapping. As police close in, dangerous negotiations unfold and the truth about Shanshan’s identity begins to surface.

Under interrogation, long-buried secrets unravel. Lin Hua confesses to killing Ma Ke, but inconsistencies raise suspicion. Detective Qin Wen begins to suspect the factory explosion was no accident.

Qin Wen and Lu Ming secretly join forces to uncover the real mastermind behind the explosion. Their investigation points to powerful figures within the system and exposes a deadly cover-up.

A high-ranking official is found dead in an apparent suicide, but Qin Wen doubts the story. Evidence begins to implicate Hou Jun, whose connection to Xia Xue and the factory runs deeper than anyone realized.

With the truth exposed, Hou Jun attempts to flee — threatening to release a damning videotape. In a final confrontation, Lu Ming pays the ultimate price. Years later, Xia Xue walks free — carrying the weight of love, sacrifice, and a past that can never be erased.
